Severed Perspectives

Embedded deep inside a decade lost to the ages
Lay the calm serenity that surpasses the sands of time.
As waves crash impeding the corroding surface of the shore
So does the era of man, corrode against the inescapable
Ever looming presence that dwells within us all.
The music ceases among the draining sounds of society
Tone, vibrancy and rhythm that once filled the bells to the cathedral
Now are a decadence that has sine vanquished
The Sunday scurry of heels and the faint swish of drooping dress’s
Accompanied by the clacking of shoes and the tipping of hats
Amidst the car doors opening and closing
has become as faint as the gentle breeze
that would caress against the face of the solitary shore.

This is a poem I wrote awhile ago about how society has lost perspective on what is truly important in life, going to church. I wrote this with the vision of the old ideal of Sunday best and getting fancy clothes on and dressing up, and now people don't value going to Gods house like that anymore if people even go at all. This is the sad reality that has abducted the world in which we live in.
